Archeological collection

Balaton Museum has been collecting archeological finds since its foundation. Most parts of the collection is from excavations around Lake Balaton.

Our most famous excavation area is the fortress of Fenékpuszta. That's where our most valuable pieces are from. Through Darnay collection, we have findings from farther areas, as well. Our collecting area is in Keszthely and the south part of Zalaszentgrót. Currently the collection consists of 89000 items, mostly from Roman and Migration periods. Due to finding saving the collection is growing continuously.
